The Price of (Internet) Fame | Cheshire Cat Studios Webcomic #7
With the release of the latest CCS Video Podcast installment, Cheshire Cat Studios has finally reached the milestone of 10,000 subscribers on YouTube. And while the CCS gang is tickled pink with its new-found popularity, they also discover that ‘Internet fame’ might not be all that it’s cranked up to be. Let’s just say it’s not exactly cocaine and hookers.
Don’t get us wrong, though: We’re incredibly grateful for all the support we’ve received over the 2+ years of our existence. However, we feel like we wouldn’t be ourselves if we didn’t use this opportunity to poke fun at both ourselves as well as some of our more… clingy, shall we say, followers.
Creepy fan-art. Constant requests to show our faces on camera. Loyal fans turning against us ‘cos of one infinitesimal remark we made that they’ve misconstrued in their head. And last but not least, a legion of horny sycophants professing their love for LaughingMan and/or CineMax without having met either one in real life. (We’d like to think most of them are female, but you can never be sure…). All of this, as we have begun to discover, is the price you have to pay if you want to be famous on the Internet.
Stay in school, kids.
